Hi everyone!

My name is Karen, I live on the (sometimes) sunny NSW Central Coast, have a partner who has three great kids, have 4 1/2 dogs (share one with the partner), and am discovering the world of paper crafts and scrapbooking!

Started scrapbooking approx 5 yr ago, and have realised it's an ever evolving craft ... so many new things, techniques etc coming out all the time - it's hard to keep up! For example, recently discovered Copic markers - oh what fun we are having now! As a consequence, my house is always one of organised chaos lol.

I fund my hobbies (or habits, I haven't decided which yet) working as a pet groomer here on the coast, which also caters for my love of animals. I have been showing dogs since I was 8 yr old, and will never be with a canine companion. Next year, hopefully one of the girls will be having puppies - a whole new subject to scrap!

Food glorious food!

Now that I have bitten the bullet, and invested in a new computer, I am getting more into card making for the challenges, instead of trying to create with no real purpose in mind!

However, this card I created on awhim anyway, then found that it suited the Lollipop Ladies "Biscotti" challenge!
The stamp is a digi from Tickled Pink Stamps, coloured with Copic markers - a well known fave of mine. I think the chocolate colouring keeps in well with the biscotti theme, and the dusky shades of pink add a nice feminine touch. I especially love Bazzill Bling card stock at the moment, so have double layed card to reinforce the colour scheme, and I chose one large soft flower as an embellishment - keeps the whole card nice and simple!

So, I would like to enter this card in The Lollipop Ladies "biscotti" themed challenge - thanks for looking!

Pastels!

Ok, I'm back in the swing of things now ... finally getting on track with card making for challenges again!
This month, Copic Creations are challenging us to colour in pastels ... and I thought this card, done for a very special friend whose birthday it was this week, would be perfect!
The stamp is from Tickled Pink, the flowers are from Hooked On Craft, card stock is Bazzill Bling, and paper is from my stash!
Markers I used were E53, E31, E33,E00, E51, RV000, RV10, RV02, RV83, G12, BV000, BV00, BV02, BV08, B00

Embellish this!

This month, the girls at Copic Oz have set an awesome challenge : "Embellish This!"
Copic markers can be used to successfully colour a range of surfaces, not just our stamps, so our challenge was to colour embellishments for our projects, so we had perfect matches for the overall colour scheme.

I'm big into cards atm, so once again, my "project" for this challenge is a card. Stamp is from Tickled Pink, paper from my stash (so old I don't even remember where I bought it!) The flowers were originally bought as a continuous ribbon from Lincraft, but I cut the ribbon so as to space the flowers further apart. Originally white, with very pale pink centres, I used my RV02 marker to colour the petals, and RV83 for the centres. The Kaisercraft pearls I also coloured with my RV02 marker. All in all, I am really pleased with the overall effect with the flowers matching the ones in the image's hair!

So, I would like to enter this card in the Copic Oz Challenge "Embellish This!"

Thanks so much for looking!

With Love

I have found an awesome new website - Hooked on Craft - big on embellishments perfect for cards (especially flowers, to the point I have already ordered, and received a huge postal bag of flowers already!!) plus they have a challenge blog!
This is their third challenge, and they have themed this challenge "With Love", so our creations had to embody this idea.
I have chosen a card I did recently: stamp is from Tickled Pink Stamps, coloured with Copic markers. It's a rather simple card, but I quite like it, especially as it's in my favourite colour, purple!
I am entering this card in the Hooked On Craft Challenge No.3 - thanks for looking!

Tickled Pink Christmas Challenge #2

I know, I know, it's too early for Christmas! But the girls over at Tickled Pink Challenge blog have come up with the great idea of a Christmas challenge every month, so that by the time Christmas does get here, we won't be behind in our card making! And I must say, its working! Not only have I done a card for this month's challenge, but I have also done two other cards just for the fun of it!

For this challenge, the theme set for us was "Jingle Bells", so who better to use on my card than Lil Lolita's Christmas Evie, complete with bells in her hands! I went for a non traditional look, which is a favourite of mine when it comes to Christmas cards, and chose a blue and gold theme.

Hope you like!

Card Recipe:

What a day!

Started off as a not so great day; just an average day, really. Got kids off to school, put a load of washing on, washed up brekkie things/cleaned kitchen, followed by a general tidy up whilst David did his invoicing, checked emails etc. Then off to my place to mow what had become a jungle ... which took four long hours! Back to David's to bring washing in, vacuum etc, and check emails/Facebook, and guess what??? Not only did I win the Copic Oz Blog Hop, which is a copy of the awesome new book on shading and colouring with Copics, but I then scooted over to the Mad For Markers challenge blog to see who had won the "male cards using brown copics" challenge for March, and although I didn't win (but congrats to those that did!) the Design Team picked my entry as a Favourite! How awesomely cool is that! So the day is ending on a high :-) plus, I have a new blinkie over on the left! Hope your Monday turned out as awesome as mine did!

Some recent creations ...

Although I haven't posted on here for a while, I haven't been idle. Instead I've been sitting at home, and while watching tv, I've been colouring and making cards just because I felt like it ... no challenges entered, I just got in a mood to create. Now I just have to switch that mood from cards to scrapbooking, and catch up on all the pages I need to do - I have so many photos printed off, and that's as far as I have got. But you have to agree (especially if you are reading this, you probably will) cardmaking is addictive ... I know that I haven't stopped cruising the net looking at stamps, dreaming of which Copic Markers to buy next, and looking at the amazing creations out there in blog-world - there are so many talented people out there! Plus, seeing as I can't help myself and constantly make cards, I am considering applyingfor a spot at a local craft market in August to sell my cards ( I also do other "crafty" things, so I wouldn't be limited to just cards, but as you all know, it becomes a time thing)

Anyway, here are some of my latest cards ... enjoy!!

This is one of my first gateway style cards, and I made this one for a friend after they lost their dog to a snake bite

I haven't posted in ages ... and haven't participated in a challenge since January! Been busy, as I went back to work 1st February, and have been experimenting with different card formats - easel cards, joy fold cards, gateway cards etc. But I did make this card with the intention of putting it forward for the Mad For Markers boy cards in brown challenge, just have taken my time uploading it!

Tickled Pink Stamps Sketch Challenge!

Tickled Pink set us a sketch challenge this week, and I decided to go one step further, and do my first "gateway" style card. I made it so it opens by undoing the ribbon bow, as the card itself opens from the middle.
I have no idea on the papers - they are all old ones from my stash with just pieces left of each, but I had enough to do the elements of the sketch.
This card is entered in the Tickled Pink Challenge Number 3!
Thanks for looking!

Go aussie!

Here in Australia, the 26th January is nationally recognised as Australia Day - a day when the nation gets together to celebrate the founding of this awesome country.

At Mad For Markers this month, we have been invited to celebrate this great day by using the colours red/white/blue (from our national flag) or green/yellow (national colours recognised aroundthe world and used by our sporting teams) in our creations!

I loved this idea, as Australia Day is also my birthday - great to think that every year I have a public holiday for my birthday! However, I got stuck ... I got some new Copics for Christmas, and some new Lil Lolita digi stamps in the New Year, and seeing as the Copics were blues, I thought I'd go with the red/white/blue theme .... I coloured my image, and then *block*! I had red papers, blue papers, and of course, we all have something white, but could not *think* of how to put it together!

After much fiddling around (and the mess on the dining table is testament to that!) this is what I came up with ... and now that it's finished, I really like the end result!

This is also the first time I have used a paper doily in anything I have ever done - and I really like the effect!

So, I am entering this card in the Mad For Markers Australia Day Challenge plus the Copic Creations Anything New Challenge, as I have new Copics, a new stamp, and new doilies! - enjoy!

Copics used - C1, C3, C5, C7, E00, E51, E53, R83, R02, R05, R08, B24, B26, B28, E71, E77
Stamp - Lil Fashionette 20's Evie

High Hopes Stamps "Party Animal" Challenge

I recently discovered High Hopes stamps, and love their range of funky cute little dragons! (Anyone who knows me knows I love dragons in all shapes and sizes) This is my first High Hopes stamp, and I love him to death ... have coloured him a few times over the last couple of days, but this card I love the best!
I found the pawprint patterned paper in my stash - no idea where it came from, I've had it for so long. I coloured my image with Copic markers.

I would like to enter this card in the High Hopes Stamps Challenge "Party Animal" - just discovered this Blog, and I know I'm going to have fun participating in their challenges!

Thanks for looking!! xoxo

Tickled Pink Challenge No. 1

As I am laid up with a broken ankle atm, and still have another 3 weeks off work, I have been doing *heaps* of colouring, and creating cards, so for a little while, I will be entering online challenges at the rate of one challenge/one card ... this way, I get to post all my cards on my blog (well, nearly all of them!)

This card, using Lil Lolita's Willow, I am entering in the Tickled Pink Stamps No.1 Challenge for 2011 - "Anything Goes!" Tickled Pink Stamps have a new challenge blog for the start of 2011 - make sure you add it to your list, and check it out!

Anyhoo, for this card, I used card stock embossed with dots, a lovely semi flocked wedding style paper I found at the local scrapbook shop, and to bring the colours of Willow into the card, used a journal tag from the Kaisercraft English Rose collection (fallen in love with this range).
Copics used :
Hair/skin : E00, E51, E53, E31, E33
Dress/bows/sox : RV000, RV10, RV02, RV13, R83
Flowers etc: Y15, G21, V12, V15, V17

Thanks for looking, enjoy your day!

Cupcake Craft Challenge

Hi everyone!

I am entering this card in Cupcake Craft Challenge No. 123 "White is White", and although the card seems simple, it was actually really hard to get "white" papers, card stock, ribbon etc that were all the same shade of white! I also added a journal tag from the Kaisercraft English Rose collection - I really, really love this range, and seem to be including it a lot lately! For something different, I printed off a "Congratulations" tag - so this card can be used for a wedding or engagement. I have also done matching cards with "Forever" and "Celebrate" as I liked the way this one turned out. This card is also a first for me in that I have not added any elements using my Copic markers!

Thanks for looking! xoxox

I'm so excited!

A little over a week ago, I applied to the website, "Aussie Cards For Sale" to become a designer, and sell my handmade cards through them ... and I've been accepted! How absolutely fabulous! I love making cards, but all I have been doing is making them, entering them in online challenges, and stashing them away ... now I have somewhere for them to be listed, appreciated, and given with love! How cool! (And special thanks to Alicia, who runs Aussie Cards For Sale, and Dawn, that wonderful woman who taught me all about Copic markers, and introduced me to the joy of stamping and cardmaking to begin with!)

To all the wonderful mums :-)

I have been using this digi stamp of Lil Lolita's Willow a fair bit lately, as she is new, and a friend mentioned in passing that she would make a really good stamp for a wedding type card. now, as I don't know anyone who is married, but I do, of course, have a mum, I decided that I would use soft colours, and do a card for Mum even though Mother's day is months away (nothing like being prepared, right?).
I coloured Willow with Copic markers, matched her almost peppermint green dress to the base card stock, then coloured her flowers to match a journal tag from the Kaisercraft "English Rose" collection, adding lace and ribbon to match. I picked one of the pinks I used to colour the stamp to then also colour some Kaisercraft pearls to add a pretty little finishing touch.

I would like to enter this card in the Digital Tuesday Challenge No. 91 "Anything Goes"

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog! xoxox

Smile!

I have had the "Smile!" cut-out in my stash for quite a while now, and had tried a few times to incorporate it into scrap layouts and other projects, but it wasn't until I bought some green and red Copics in "softer" colours, that I paired it up with a light peppermint patterned paper and ribbon and then coloured this stamp accordingly. And I love the result, although not really captured that well in a photo.
Copics used:
Face/hair - E00, E31, E33, E51, E53
Clothes - G00, G12, G21, RV000, RV02, RV10, BV00
Misc. - Y15, Y17, Y19, V12,V15, V17, G02, G12, G24
I would like to enter this card in the online challenge this week at Southern Girl's Challenge No.9 "Anything Goes"

Thanks for having a look at my blog!

Cupcake Craft Challenge No. 122

This is Lil Lolita's 60's Willow ... and I'm loving colouring her in a variety of colours! This card, I found a really cute floral paper in my stash which I though went really well with her hippy "flower child" look, and I'd like to submit her in the latest Cupcake Craft Challenge No. 122 theme "Thank You".

Copics used:
Clothes - BV00, BV02, BV04, RV83, RV85, RV89
Face/hair - E00, E51, E53, E31, E33
Misc. - RV000, RV13, RV83, Y15, G12, clear Spica
I also highlighted the centre of her flowers with clear Kindy Glitz, but I am not sure you can see this in the photo.

Thanks for looking at my post, I hope you enjoy her as much as I am enjoying colouring her!
